Welcome to Issue 4 of my infrequent newsletter, and welcome also to a new decade.
I
only have one event to look forward to over the coming months -
Liverpool on 16th/17th January. Then its a break until the season
starts in earnest in March, with the highlight being my extended trip
to the USA in March and April.

The Magic Number One.
We
have finally kissed goodbye to the 'noughties' - the empty decade where
the people lacked direction or purpose and filled the void in their
hearts with the shimmer of technology and consumerism.
While
some people think that the condition of life on the planet will worsen
before it improves it should be noted that we are now in the '10's',
not the noughties. In Numerology we reduce 10 to 1, which is the time
of new beginnings and fresh starts.
There
is likely to be much innovation in this new decade, and another chance
to get things right. Matters that have been stuck, going round in
circles may have new life breathed into them during the coming ten
years. It is also a time for people to find themselves and to go their
own way, so those of you who despair at the atomisation of society and
destruction of community may need to be patient. During this decade it
will become increasingly apparent that the old systems of social,
religious and economic control are failing, as people turn away from
them in greater and greater numbers. Christianity and Islam are both in
their final, noisy, death throes, and we may well see rapid change in
our form of government and our monarchy.
Plans
for World Government are already advanced, and we should expect these
to continue apace, inspite of much resistance to them.
Personally,
this is a time to start a new cycle and to turn a new page. Christmas
2019 is going to look very different to what we experienced a couple of
weeks ago, and although I was unhappy to be proven right about my
pessisim for the noughties, the 10's look like holding a great deal
more potential for positive and lasting change. I do not say there will
be no pain, and some will make matters worse by resisting those
changes, but I do think that the whole of this decade will be an
exceptionally exciting time to be alive! We are living history right
now.
Celebrate Our Differences.
Yes, you read it correctly. I am going to tackle the sacred cow of 'Specialness' and 'Difference'.
One
of the biggest challenges we face in the UK (US readers is this true
over there?) is the idea that we are all the same. Nothing special.
Unremarkable. Just like everyone else. This culture, though foisted on
us by well-meaning and sometimes beautiful individuals, has powerful
and dangerous unforeseen consequences.
Every
single human being on the planet is different. Subtly and distinctly
different. Each of us looks different, acts differently, thinks
differently and feels things differently. Take Down's Syndrome
children. They know they are different. We think we are all the same.
Who are the one's with the problem? Einstein was different, Richard
Branson is different, Emmeline Pankhurst was different. Anybody that
has ever done anything with their lives knows they are different from
everyone else.
And that goes for you to.
Our differences make us what we are. They identify us and provide purpose and meaning to our lives.
This
need not mean separation or isolation from family, friends and
community. Instead it should mean tolerance and respect of others
differences, together with an appreciation that you can make a
difference in this world, just be being yourself.
They
will be plenty of opportunities this year and next, to focus on what
binds us together. Indeed there will be times when it seems like we are
just one big amorphous mass. When this happens remember these words and
take a moment to identify and celebrate what makes you different from
everyone else that you know. It will seem like such a small thing, but
in fact it is everything.
No-one can ever take your uniqueness away from you - unless you let them.
Happy New Year!
Richard
