To achieve true Self Mastery you must recognise the four-fold nature of life.
Everything in existence is comprised of 4 elements -
Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual.
This is in turn linked to the Four Stages of Life.
In our early years, the only requirements that we have are
physical - a need to eat, sleep and keep warm.
As we grow a little older we have
emotional needs too - we want something becuase we want it - no reason or logic applies.
But we find here that as we have to learn some degree of control of our emotions - we can't have what we want whenever we want it because there are other people to take into account.
Then, a little later in life, some of us develop our
mental abilities. This involves the ability to analyse, calculate and assess - as well as to admit we are wrong and then adapt our approach.
Finally, the lucky few find that
spiritual matters - things beyond the visible world - become more and more important.
And thus the individual acheives completion - a recognition and use of the Four Elements with them.
The precise working of the four elements differs between each individual, and part of our work is to lead you toward the discovery of your
Elemental Balance.
You can begin your journey down this road, right now, by recognising the following:
PHYSICAL - your health is the most precious asset you have. Lose your health and you lose everything. Your body needs as wide a variety of fresh and unprocessed foods as possible - meat, fish, berries, vegetables, minerals, pulses, oils, seeds, you name it, if it grows naturally on this Planet then at one time or another our body will need it. Then some light exercise to burn away toxins and sleep to restore balance ready for a New Day. That's all.
EMOTIONAL - love and affection given to, and received from others is essential. Feelings and sensations and urges should be listened to, but they should also be controlled, or else they will control you and become addictions.
MENTAL - thought, research and analysis can bring great results, but requires time, effort and patience. Its also requires adaptability and humility. No one person can possibly know everything, for certainly a great ability in one field will reflect a deficiency in other areas. And that's why you need other people. And that's why sometimes we get it wrong. It requires great maturity to develop our mental faculties fully.
SPIRITUAL - true spiritual development, reaching into The Inner World in a safe and controlled fashion, can only be achieved once the other three elements have been mastered. There are no short cuts. Spiritual growth without balance only ever leads to disconnection from reality, difficulty in relationships and ultimately loneliness.
