Yes to simplicity, no to complexity.
Complexity is a man-made creation, it is not a natural state.
Man makes life more complicated than it
needs to be, in order to segregate tasks and distribute power and resources.
Complexity implies that someone is better than someone else, more qualified,
richer, prettier, taller, faster whatever the criteria might be. But the
reality is one of diversity. The diversity of the human race is immeasurable.
Every one is unique, and therefore everyone has a role, a part to play, Without
each person playing their own unique part, the whole collapses, which is
exactly what has happened. The current parlous state of the world is due in
large part to the wholly inadequate application of the biggest asset we possess
- human ingenuity. Complexity is a bar to progressing this, simplicity is
the gateway. There, simple!
But of course, simplicity cuts all ways. It means that many of the structures
that we have set up become worthless. Government is simply a necessary evil
that exists to regulate for human failing. The greater the degree of human
failing the greater the need for stronger and stronger government. The bigger
the government the more unwilling its members are to relinquish their powers in
order that the only remedy be delivered - people standing up and doing it for
themselves. The more that government regulates behaviour in order to account
for human failing, the more human failing there will be, because as it
strangles sin it also strangles virtue, innovation and creativity. As the
patients leg is healed, so the patient dies.
Instead, we should insist upon the nurture and encouragement of human potential
- through allowing children at a very early age to follow their own interests.
Interests reveal ability. Simple.
Once people are following their own track, recognising their own value and the
value of others, why would they set about to screw other people's lives
up?
This sea change can only be bought about by a cultural revolution, a
shift in
the state of mind of the populus. Abandonment of state controlled media
and the
free disemination of information will both aid this process, and the
good news is that this process has begun.
The ideas laid out above are
not a vain hope, they are a prediction whose seeds have already been
sown.
Elsewhere on the site we have talked in depth about the Four Elements - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Complexity is the ultimate expression of the mental element, the domain of the male of the human species. Genetics, cybernetics, bio-sciences, robotics and their logical conclusion Artificial Intelligence (AI) are the most complex things we have ever created. Yet all these disciplines open a door to a world of hurt in the form of unintended consequences. The unchecked expression of the mental (male) energy through its obsession with complexity may yet spell disaster for the human race.
Keep is simple, stupid!
